You should get a laugh out of this canine event aimed at helping animals througout the community.

The Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP) is hosting its second “Raise the Woof” comedy night Friday September 12 at 8 p.m.

Three comedians will be coming to town to provide some great entertainment, and there will also be door prizes, raffles, and lots of great items at the silent auction.

The event is being held at the Element.

You can reserve space for dinner at the Element from 5-6:30 p.m., or you can just come to the show.

Doors open for the show at 7:30 p.m..

Advance tickets are on sale at the Element, Nelson Farmer’s Supply, or online through the Element’s events page on the internet.

KAAP is a 100 per cent volunteer based group of people dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing unwanted, abandoned, or neglected animals.   the group works with kittens/cats and puppies/dogs.

While it does not not have a shelter, all of its animals are in private family foster homes and the group ensures animals in its care are vet checked, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered.

“We also help low income people in spaying/neutering their pets, pay emergency vet bills and in any other way that we are needed,” said Laural Mathew.

“Every single penny raised at this event and all of our fundraising goes back into animal rescue and care, and help for local people and their pets.”
