Miss Castlegar Leeza Perehudoff supplies Christmas-themed entertainment for the kids at the Castlegar Community Complex

Making crafts with recycled materials was only part of the fun at a festive pre-Christmas event, Sunday at the Castlegar Community Complex.

"This was our biggest Columbia Power Community Christmas yet – we had 450 families visit to make crafts and take in the entertainment and games, 127 enjoyed the free swim and 75 took advantage of the free skate in the afternoon," declared Kathleen Hart of Columbia Power's communications and stakeholder relations.

"Columbia Power wants to recognize and thank everyone who helped to make this event so successful – all of our staff and community volunteers, local businesses, Canada Post, the Castlegar and District Community Complex and staff, Audrey Polovnikoff - our wonderful MC - and especially the Castlegar Selkirk Lions volunteers and Joanne Baker. Joanne works throughout the year to prepare for this event and without her, it would not be possible."
