A local seniors advocacy organization is offering a free tool to help ensure that first responders have access to essential medical information right away if they are called to your home.
The Castlegar Community Response Network/IRIS is offering free PRIME (Personal Records In Medical Emergency) kits.
The kits feature a detailed medical and personal information sheet to be filled out by the individual and a red baggie to put the form in. These items are to be placed inside the home’s fridge door. An eye-catching fridge decal is then placed on the outside of the fridge to indicate the resident is a PRIME participant.
Originally launched in 2014, CRN has distributed thousands of the kits at events and gatherings.
IRIS coordinator Sandi McCreight says the kits are a great way to add an additional measure of safety an ensure first responders have important information about your health.
Free PRIME kits are available locally at Pharmasave and Shoppers Drug Mart or by calling IRIS at 250-608-0706 to have one mailed to you.
