Are you concerned about a family member’s driving abilities?
For caregivers of a person with dementia, it`s a serious concern. Fortunately, Castlegar families can turn to the non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C. for assistance.
The Society presents a free tele-workshop, Driving and Dementia, on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
Family caregivers will explore some of the issues surrounding driving cessation, including how to identify when driving is no longer safe and how to approach discussions on the subject.
The workshop also suggests alternative methods of transportation and offers strategies to prevent the use of the car if necessary.

Tele-workshops are learning sessions designed for family caregivers, but also open to health care providers. They can be accessed via telephone, with an optional web component, recognizing that many caregivers are unable to attend in-person workshops.
Participants also have a chance to learn and to share with others who are in similar situations.
