Kootenay Family Place (KFP) is celebrating their 40th anniversary with a party on Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. at the KFP Neighbourhood House behind Chopsticks.

"We're inviting people to come down and celebrate with us and have cake and coffee and meet and greet some staff, both past and present," said Jim Fisher, executive director. "We're inviting past board members, past employees, and anyone that's attended a KFP program is more than welcome to come on down and see how the agency is doing in its 40th year."

Kootenay Family Place has several other events planned this year to celebrate the big 40th anniversary.

"We're sponsoring a reunion of our young parent program this July," said Fisher. "We're going to participate heavily in Sunfest in June."

Several programs for families and youth are provided by KFP, including an infant development program and a supported child development program. Both programs are throughout the West Kootenay area. There are also child care programs at Hobbit House and Selkirk College and an after-school care program at Kinnaird Park Elementary.
