Following a long and successful seventeen-year career as the executive director for the Kootenay Gallery, Val Field has announced her retirement.

“On behalf of all gallery colleagues and our board of directors, I want to extend our deepest thanks to Val for her outstanding service to the gallery,” said Audrey Maxwell Polovnikoff, Kootenay Gallery chair.

“Over her years of service Val has contributed wholly to the success and respect that the gallery receives locally and provincially through her commitment and passion. We wish Val every success in the next chapter and are grateful for her ongoing support of all the gallery and commitment to the gallery relocation. She will continue to be a major contributor to ensuring all will be achieved.”

Reflecting upon her career at the gallery, Val said, “I am one of those lucky people who loved their job, so the decision to retire was a difficult one. I want to say thank you to this wonderful community for supporting the gallery and myself over the years and I will continue to work on relocating the gallery to its new location downtown. A big welcome to Joleen Kinakin who I know will be a great addition as the gallery grows!”
