The Harvest Jam was held last weekend at the Castlegar Rotary Skatepark. The event was especially meaningful because the skatepark is marking its 20th anniversary this year.
This is the third year that The Shop Skate and Snowboard Supply and Castlegar Girls on Boards have joined together to host the Jam.
More than 30 skaters from around the region attended the event, include members of Castlegar Girls on Boards and the Summer at the Skatepark program.
The summer program has been running for more than 10 years and has seen skaters from Castlegar, Rossland, Trail, Nelson, Slocan, and even as far away as Coquitlam attend.
Additional supporters of the event included the City of Castlegar, Steve’s No Frills and Sunshine Rotary. Mayor Maria McFaddin and city councillor Cherryl MacLeod showed up to support the event in person.
Organizers Kaleigh Herald, The Shop owner, and Katherine Michaux of Castlegar Girls on Boards say they were thrilled to have such a successful event held locally.
