The summer is a busy time for several cadets from Nelson and Castlegar.

The same day, three cadets returned from three-week courses.

Master Cadet Tavian Morningstar from 81 Hampton Gray VC Nelson Sea Cadet Corp and Corporal Golson Menard from 581 Castlegar Air Cadet squadron returned home from Cadet Training Centre Vernon. These cadets attended the Fitness and Sports Instructor Course. This course provides cadets an opportunity to further personal fitness and healthy living knowledge and skills and develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge to perform the duties of a Fitness and Sports Instructor. Activities include personal fitness, healthy living, conducting the Cadet Fitness Assessment, and leading physical activities.

From 561 Nelson Osprey Air Cadet squadron, Flight Corporal Ryder Leblanc returned from HMCS Quadra Cadet Training Centre after three weeks on the Cadet Musician - Military Band course. Activities include music training and band activities such as music theory, music technique, band drill, leadership and performing ensemble music.

All three of the units will be starting their 2023-2024 training years in early September.
