The City of Castlegar’s annual Giving Thanks community meal event will not be taking place this year.

At the Sept. 25 council meeting, Councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstibitoff reported that one of the event’s major organizers from previous years is ill, so the other groups that were involved declined to participate this year.

Council is looking at other Thanksgiving options like sponsoring a free movie with the money that was budgeted for the event.
