Ten Castlegar youth have the opportunity to participate in an online workshop with the Castlegar Youth Action Network this spring.
Participants can engage with other youth and have support from adult mentors as they use spoken word, puppetry, animation, poetry, and story and song writing to express themselves.
The six-week, 12-session workshop is open to youth 12-18 years old. The workshop is free. Participants can expect opportunities to win pizza at each session, plus there will be three sessions where everyone will get a pizza delivered to their door.
Participants will be provided with spoken word text and workbooks and a kit with all the supplies needed to make the puppets, masks and animation stints that will be included in a virtual play.
Youth will also have the option to create a short film or submit a spoken word piece that can be played to members of the community afterwards.
The workshop starts May 20 and runs on Thursdays and Fridays from 4-6 p.m. Email youth@cdcss.ca to register now.
