A story of inspiration is part and parcel to a fundraiser happening at the Old Castle Theatre on May 9.
Central to the storyline is Sofeya Devji – a teacher working with blind and visually impaired students in School Districts 8 and 20, who works tirelessly fundraising for student trips. She helps to enrich their lives by taking them skiing… they paint works of art, last year a trip to Bamfield, etc. Sofeya truly thinks outside the box – the communities are so lucky to have her.
The feature for this event at Castlegar’s iconic movie house is: “Blindsight” a film that follows Erik Weihenmayer and his team attempt to guide six blind Tibetan teens to the top of the 23,000 foot Lhakpa Ri located on the north side of Mount Everest… a part of the world that practically cornered the market on jaw-dropping scenery.
The fundraiser also features short presentations by students about their experiences with the KPA-VI program.
