Castlegar Rotarians have presented an AED (automated external defibrillator) to the Castlegar Golf Club.
The unit is a portable electronic device used to automatically diagnose life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia and apply electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm.
The Castlegar Rotary Club purchased 2 AEDs this year as part of a multi-year program to place the life-saving devices at various facilities in the community. Club members are currently looking at location for the second AED.
