The Castlegar and District Library’s summer reading program is back to in-person programming this year.

The BC Summer Reading Club is a free reading program for children. It is a great way to improve reading skills, meet new friends, learn more about your community, and have fun.

The program will be centered around this year’s theme: All Together Now.

Participants do more than just read books — they play games, make arts and crafts and participate in science experiments. Special guests will also give children insightful presentations during the program.

The program coordinators can also tailor the program to suit each child’s needs and recommend books specifically for them.

The program is for children in preschool through grade 4+. But you do not need to be enrolled in a school to join —homeschoolers are welcome.

Registration opens on June 22. Children should be registered under the grade they will complete in June 2022. The library will be using Eventbrite, an online booking program, to manage registrations. Go to eventbrite.ca/e/362401220807.

The preschool program starts July 12 and ends Aug. 16. Children must be at least three years old as of June 2022 and be potty trained to participate.

The kindergarten program runs July 6 to Aug. 17.

Grade 1-3 program runs July 7 to Aug. 18.

Grade 4 program runs July 8 to Aug. 19.

There will be two time slots for each age group.
