Rotarians learn about DARE program

At the regular Castlegar Sunrise 2000 Rotary meeting on Thursday, April 26, Miss Castlegar candidate Hailey Gardner and her father Cpl. Gardner came for a visit.

Hailey, a student at Stanley Humphries Secondary, will be representing Castlegar Sunrise Rotary at the upcoming Miss Castlegar pageant in June during SunFest weekend.

Corporal Rob Gardner from the RCMP gave a presentation on DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). As a DARE officer, Gardner talks to five grade 5 classes in Castlegar and Robson about the effects of taking drugs like marijuana and drinking alcohol.

 

Sunrise Rotary is currently voting on a motion to support DARE with a cheque for $500.
