Castlegar Sculpturewalk has chosen a dramatic way to announce this year’s award winners.

The announcement will be part of a free, family-friendly event on Saturday, Dec. 10 called Night of Fire.

Things will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Geronazzo Pit at Millennium Park with the Moving Mosaic Samba Band providing some rousing music to warm everyone up.

Two-time People’s Choice winners Spring Shine, Christopher Petersen and Yvonne Boyd have created a fantastical wooden dragon sculpture that will spit mighty flames after it is set on fire that night.

Sculpturewalk organizers are inviting the entire community to celebrate the end of a successful 2022 sculpture season, see who won this year’s awards, and stay for a spectacular fire event.

Columbia Basin Kootenay Alliance is providing funding for the project and Ernie’s Used Auto Parts is sponsoring the music.

Sculpturewalk winners will be posted on the organization’s website after the event.
