We are now entering the height of the winter season, and that means that it is time to prepare for the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising event.

Castlegar and District Community Services Society (CDCSS) will host the two-or-five kilometre walk on February 25.

Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide movement that aims to raise support for agencies that work with people experiencing homelessness, hurt, and hunger. Money raised during the event stays in the community.

This year, CDCSS has set a goal of $30,000.

They are looking for 20 team captains that will recruit seven or eight friends to join their team, with a goal of raising $2000 per team. Of course, they are also looking for a scores of walkers to join the fun, family-friendly community event.

Every walker who raises either $75 (youth 17 and under) or $150 (adults) will get a famous Coldest Night toque as a special thank you.
