The local hospital foundation will be the recipient of the money raised through this year’s Smile Cookie Week at Tim Horton’s.

The Castlegar and District Hospital Foundation (CDHF) will receive 100 per cent of the proceeds for every $1 smile cookie sold at the Castlegar Tim Horton’s from now until Sept. 17. Those proceeds will go toward the foundation’s current fundraising goal.

“The project that we’re working on for the 2017 Light Up is to acquire a third V.A.C. Therapy machine for Therapy System 101,” explains Kirk Duff, president of the CDHF. “It’s … a medical device that ‘promotes wound healing by delivering negative pressure,’ which is basically a vacuum, ‘at the wound site through a patented dressing and therapy unit, creating an environment that promotes the wound healing process.’ And apparently it works really well.”

The CDHF has been the Smile Cookie Week fund recipient once before and received $2,100.

Members of the foundation will be working at Tim Horton’s during the week and Duff encourages people to come out and say hi.

“Everyone loves Tim Horton’s so while you’re there, buy a cookie or two,” he says.
