A comprehensive planning process to update the Village of Salmo’s 15-year-old official community plan, called Sustainable Salmo, launches on Canada Day in Knights of Pythias Park.
Residents as well as visitors and neighbours can fill out surveys, participate in a Salmo lifestyle photo contest and sign up for working groups and public consultation meetings.
Mayor Stephen White will be on hand with student volunteers gathering survey responses and talking to people about what they would like Salmo’s sustainable future to look like. Everyone who fills out a survey, as well as their children, will receive a glow-in-the-dark Sustainable Salmo bracelet which will come in handy during the evening’s fireworks. The survey is also available online at sustainablesalmo.ca
“These are exciting times for Salmo,” says White. “We have professionalized our village operations and are prepared now to take on the planning work necessary to ensure that we move into a bright and sustainable future in a way that preserves what makes Salmo a great place to live.
