Picnic hosted more than 200 babies

Castlegar’s recent Teddy Bear Picnic hosted over 200 babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their parents for a fun day of activities, despite the last minute re-location to Blueberry Creek Community School, due to rain.

Face painting, the teddy bear hospital, the aboriginal community drum, and  gym play kept the little ones actively engaged.

The annual event, sponsored by the Castlegar Early Childhood Advisory Council offers displays from community agencies and organizations to highlight information for parents on programs and services available in the area for young children and their families.

Lola the Clown provided fun with her animal balloons, and Safire Jones kept everyone moving with her hula hoops of all sizes, thanks to the generous funding from the Columbia Basin Trust.

A spirit of community participation and fun permeated the event.
