Former Miss Castlegar Mariah Morris will not only be putting on a B.C. Ambassador Program scholarship fundraising concert but she will be performing in it.

Morris, who was Miss Castlegar 2010, will be representing Castlegar at the B.C. Ambassador Program which takes place August 17-19 in Merritt.

To raise money for scholarships for the candidates, Morris is organizing the event, which goes July 5, which features Gilles Parenteau performing his Virtual Symphony.

"He's known around the world," says Morris. "He plays several pianos at the same time. It's like listening to a complete orchestra. There's also a visual aspect. He controls ten video cameras which capture his feet and hands."

People going to the show will also get to see the re-done Castle Theatre. "It's beautiful," says Morris.

Opening up for Parenteau is Morris herself, who is an accomplished singer in her own right, and Jason Thomas, a country singer from Trail.

The doors open for the concert at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Castle Theatre is located at 185 Columbia Avenue in Castlegar. tickets are available at Mountain FM, HTR, Johnny's Grocery, and the Bridge in Nelson.
