Castlegar’s Community Harvest Food Bank has plans to start a warming centre as soon as possible, but they need volunteers in order to make it happen.

A special training session for those seriously interested in volunteering for overnight shifts is being held on Wednesday evening at St. David’s Anglican Church, which is partnering with the food bank for this project.

The goal is to have the centre open over night to give people without shelter a place to sleep out of the cold.

More details on policies and operating hours will be available later this week, once organizers know how many volunteers there will be.

Volunteers must attend the training session and have criminal background checks done. Contact Deb McIntosh for more details at 250-608-1047.
