The West Kootenay Trade Show is fast approaching and this year there will be even more vendors, with even more to see.
Hosted by the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce, the trade show will take place from Friday, April 15 to Sunday, April 17 at the Castlegar Recreation Complex. Over 90 vendors will have their goods and services on display, both inside and outside.
“We are incredibly excited; we have way more vendors outside,” says Tammy Verigin-Burk, executive director of the chamber. “Right now we’ve got 15 outdoor vendors and they’re covering 64 parking spots or more. So it’s massive outside this year, and inside we have 78 indoor vendors right now with about four more spots that we’re looking to fill.”
With so many vendors, there’s sure to be something for everybody. Among those attending this year’s show are Kootenay Mountain Zipline, Jones Boys Boats, Main Jet Motorsports, Endless Adventure and She Works She Plays, a company that makes clothing for women who work in the trades and play in the outdoors.
“It’s everything from anything to do with your house to shopping for cars to looking for jewelry or clothing,” says Verigin-Burk.
Hours are 5-8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $4 per adult for the day, or there are $6 weekend passes.
“I can guarantee you, anyone who’s going to come is going to want to come back one more time to see some of the stuff, so we’re really strongly suggesting people just get the weekend pass,” says Verigin-Burk. “You’re definitely going to want to have time to go through everything, because with over 3000 people who attend, it gets really full and so you want to definitely have time to circulate and be able to go to every booth.”
Many of the vendors will have raffles or giveaways, and there’s also two $500 Dream Draws. The winners of the Dream Draws will have the chance to spend the money with whichever vendor they choose.
“The draws that people do are huge; a lot of them are really wonderful prizes,” says Verigin-Burk.
