The West Kootenay Camera Club’s 21st Annual Photo Show begins this week in Castlegar.

The Photo Show is an annual juried event of photographic art for both members and non-members. This year’s competition for entries to the show ended April 29 and 335 entries were received from members and non-members.

The four invited certified judges were:  Tony and Kathleen Roche from Spokane, Wash., Neil le Noble from Richmond and Larry Doell from Rossland. They met in Castlegar on May 14 to adjudicate the photographs. Ribbons were awarded to First, Second, Third and Honourable Mention in each of the categories: Nature, Human Interest, Photojournalism,  Creative Images, Flowers, Open, Portraits, Architecture and Old.

This year’s Photo Show will take place in Castlegar and Trail. The Kootenay Gallery in Castlegar is the venue for the show’s three-day event, June 3-5, held during the Sunfest  weekend each year.  The show opens Friday morning and runs from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. with the official “opening” Friday evening, 6-8 p.m. It is open again June 4-5, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
