Castlegar Sculpturewalk winners announced at gala

The People’s Choice Award went to Maple Releaf by local artists.

The 2017 Sculpturewalk award winners were announced last week at the organization’s annual gala.

The People’s Choice Award went to Maple Releaf by local artists Peter Wulowka, Geoff Verigin, Mary MacNicol and Chris Perepolkin. The City of Castlegar will be purchasing the sculpture.

Rock Dragon by Heather Wall was the People’s Choice runner-up.

Steller’s Jay by Kevin Kratz and Yvonne Vanens Munro tied for third place with Moments Later by Kate Tupper.

In the Artistic Merit category, Raven’s Key by Fred Dobbs won with Simurgh 5 by Zohreh Vahidifard taking second.

Magic Fish by Adam Schultz and Departures and Arrivals by Rabi’a tied for third.
