The Castlegar Youth Action Network hosted an open mic at a local concert series last Thursday.

The No Loitering concert series was started by Dannika Sookoroff and last Thursday the headliner at the Castlegar Library amphitheatre was Josh Norman and his friend Brodie Parahoniac.

But before Norman took to the stage, Jacob Nickason of the youth action network MCed the open mic where both local youth and adults took turns sharing their talents, including Sookoroff.

Artist Katie Parkin was also featured, with two of her paintings on stage acting as a background for the performances.

Sookoroff wanted to thank sound guy Nick Morgan, as well as the events sponsors: Pinnacle Accounting, Mother Natures, Swish, Oranj Express, Dragonflies &Fairy Dust, Central City Shoes, Glacier Honda, Century 21, Rest Assured Kootenay Floats and Greek Oven.

The next concert in the series will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Castlegar Library amphitheatre. OK Vancouver OK will be performing.

The concert is free, but Sookoroff accepts donations to help fund the series.
