With only a month before Castlegar Sculpturewalk’s 2017 sculptures are taken down, now is the time to purchase or lease one of these beautiful works of art and keep it in the Kootenays.
“It has already been a great year for us in terms of both our sales and our leasing program,” says Executive Director Joy Barrett. “We’ve sold five sculptures so far — three privately, one to Rossland and one to Nelson — and our leasing program has expanded dramatically each year, with over 20 sculptures heading to their new homes in a few weeks. Businesses find this is an ideal way to draw attention to their establishments, and with this support, we’ve seen public art here boom, with over fifty pieces currently showing in the city. Castlegar has definitely earned the title The Sculpture Capital of Canada.”
Sales and leasing is an important part of Sculpturewalk’s program as it directly supports the artists, generates operating income for the non-profit organization and increases public art in Castlegar and the region.
Municipalities such as Nelson, Rossland, Creston and Penticton have seen the benefits of partnering with Castlegar Sculpturewalk to create easy, affordable public art programs that showcase the tremendous international talent sourced by the annual event.
Leasing is an affordable way to dip your toe into the art market, with monthly leases starting at only $100/month, and sculpture purchases can be made on a long-term, payment plan basis.
