At Sunfest this weekend, the sweet sounds of local talent will fill your ears while you’re taking in the festivities.

On Friday and Saturday, the Mountain FM Pharmasave Summer Concert Series will see singers and musicians from all over the West Kootenay take the stage to showcase their talents.

“We sponsor Sunfest every year,” Drex, program director at Mountain FM, said. “Usually we do a talent quest but this year we decided to do something different and provide the entertainment for two days.”

Starting at 2 p.m. on Friday, Mountain FM’s afternoon host Kier White will be live on location with his show until 6 p.m., with performances by Stasia, Dereck and the logger sports show from 5 to 6.

Roy Has Fire plays from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by another logger sports show.

Saturday’s entertainment starts at 11 a.m. with Supercat Studios, followed by Speak of the Unknown, Reece Zibin, Mariah Morris, Christina Amelio, Garth Laurie and Monsters, with breaks for logger sports.

“Our radio station has always been at the forefront for bringing local bands and talent to the area,” Drex said. “We did an open casting call and we’ve been working on this for a few months.”

Although the entertainment is free, Drex said there will be an area for people to donate loonies and toonies, all of which will go to Habitat for Humanity.

The stage will be located in Kinsmen Park. For more information, search “Mountain FM Pharmasave Summer Concert Series” on Facebook.
