Last Friday the Castlegar Rebels hosted last year's KIJHL chaps, the Revelstoke Grizzlies. It was a slow start for the hometown team as the Grizzlies jumped to a 2-0 lead barely three minutes into the first period. However, goals by #8 Ben Filippone and a tremendous individual effort by #14 Carter Peters, who blocked a shot in his own zone, beat the Grizzlies' defenceman in a foot race to the puck and then buried his own rebound on the breakaway to tie the game at 2-2 going into the third period.

Revelstoke would score halfway through the third before #17 Kwentyn Oss responded just a minute later. Unfortunately late penalty trouble would cost the Rebels as they would allow a late powerplay goal  and the defending KIJHL champions would win the game 4-3.

On Saturday night new Rebels goaltender Haden Heide made his first KIJHL start against the visiting Creston Valley Thundercats. Heide stopped all 26 shots he faced, leading the way to a 1-0 victory and the Rebels first win in the new season.

Josh Gamble was the Rebels lone goal scorer on the night, he currently sits fifth in KIJHL scoring with 7 points in 4 games.

The next home games are Friday Oct. 4 vs the Columbia Valley Rockies, and Saturday Oct. 5 vs the Golden Rockets. Puck drop for both games is at 7PM.
