Light Up fundraising campaign supports Castlegar health care

$60,000 is being raised towards and ECG machine and warming unit

Community members pledged their support towards local health care last Friday.

The annual Light Up campaign's pledge day was held on Dec. 6 to fundraise new equipment at the Castlegar and District Health Centre and Talarico Place, with a goal of $60,000. This year, funds raised will go towards purchasing a 12-lead ECG machine for the Emergency Department, a warming unit for the Urgent and Primary Care Centre, and other areas of greatest need.

Several community partners were involved in bringing this event together, with live music and treats provided for everyone who came by to make an in-person donation.

Thank you to BOUNCE Radio and “The Elegant Touch,” a very talented duo of classical music performed by Ruth Langevin on flute and Dave Carroll on classical guitar. Netta Zeberoff also entertained donors and passersby with guitar and Christmas carols, accompanied by her husband, Bill.

Until March 31, 2025, there are still ways to help this worthy cause:

• Drop off a donation at 709 10 Street. Cheques can be made out to Castlegar and District Health Foundation
• Call 250-304-1209
• Donate online at www.castlegarhospitalfoundation.org, via PayPal, or through e-transfer at CDHospFoundation@gmail.com

And make sure to stop by the Foundation Gift Shop, located in the lobby of the Castlegar Health Centre, which carries lovely infant and children’s clothing, jewellery, gift and novelty items, snacks and beverages. Open Monday to Friday in the afternoons, proceeds from sales go to the Castlegar & District Hospital Foundation. Volunteers are needed to expand hours of operation.
