Speed lands Castlegar teen a hefty fine and vehicle impoundment

The 18-year old driver from Castlegar was issued a $368 fine for speeding and had his car impounded.

The teen was issued a $368 fine for excessive speeding, and his vehicle was impounded for one week. 

On Saturday night, Sept. 14, a Trail RCMP officer on patrol near Champion Lakes Road observed a vehicle speeding in the 3100 block of Highway 3B.

Using a police radar unit, the officer reportedly confirmed the vehicle was travelling at 105 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. 

The officer stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, an 18-year-old man from Castlegar, at the roadside.

The teen was issued a $368 fine for excessive speeding, and his vehicle was impounded for one week. 

“Trail RCMP and BC Highway Patrol are on the roads every day conducting enforcement to keep you safer while you travel,” said Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
