Water conservation measures are being mandated for South Slocan residents due to what the Regional District of Central Kootenay says is a low source of water flow.
The measures announced Monday include a prohibition on watering lawns and limits on the times of watering gardens, trees and shrubs to 6-10 a.m. and 8-10 p.m.
Watering using drip irrigation, by can or hand-held hose remains allowed at any time.
The RDCK says the measures, which will remain in effect until further notice, are to help facilitate the filling and recovery at night of its South Slocan Water System reservoir.
The regional district added stricter measures could be on the way if demand increases significantly, dry weather continues or if the reservoir declines further.
