A 47-year old woman and 54-year-old man, both from Castlegar, were arrested on Feb. 12 after Castlegar police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of 9th Avenue.

According to a police statement, the search warrant was obtained in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.

Investigators seized a quantity of drugs believed to be cocaine and psilocybin, along with cash and other items consistent with the trafficking of illicit drugs. In addition, police located and seized various prohibited weapons on the property.

Police say both suspects were taken into custody without incident and were later released from custody.

Castlegar RCMP are continuing their investigation into possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking along with weapons offences. The matter will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Services of Canada for full charge assessment.
