Castlegar’s 2023 business awards winners announced

Business person, manager, restaurant of the year some of the 15 awards handed out

The Castlegar and District Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Business Awards event was held on Nov. 4 at the Castlegar and District Community Complex.

The awards are handed out on a nomination and voting basis. The event is always well attended and serves as a fundraiser for the chamber.

This year’s winners:

Business Person of the Year — Heather & George Salivaras (Recharge Fuel and Fitness/The Grateful Table)

Business Excellence — Blue Barn Pet & Hobby Farm

Customer Service Excellence — Humble Bean Coffee Co.

The Green Award — Dig Garden Centre

Professional Service — Back in Balance

Contractor of the Year — Hybreed Contracting

Tourism Development — Castlegar Sculpturewalk

Young Entrepreneur Award — Hedin Nelson-Chorney and Marty Lutsy (Tailout Brewing)

Community Social Award — SPCA

Home Based Business Award — Into the Wild off Leash Adventures and Train with Solly

Restaurant of the Year — Tacos El Gringo

Manager of the Year — Barry Moore (Kootenay Market)

Innovator of the Year Award — Kalesnikoff Mass Timber

Two awards are not vote based. Those went to Mercer Celgar in the Lifetime Achievement category and the Kalawsky Auto Group for the Board of Directors Choice Award.
