Collision between Castlegar and Trail injures two motorcycle riders

Castlegar RCMP are seeking information regarding a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV that occurred on Highway 22 between Castlegar and Trail on Friday, July 5 before noon.

Castlegar RCMP are asking for information regarding a collision on Friday, July 5 before 12 p.m.

The incident involved an SUV and a motorcycle and occurred on Highway 22 in the China Creek area between Castlegar and Trail. 

Castlegar RCMP received a report of the collision just before noon, according to an RCMP release. Emergency services located the motorcycle and SUV in the ditch alongside the highway. 

The 63-year-old female Castlegar resident driving the SUV was uninjured, but the 60-year-old male driving the motorcycle and the 56-year-old female passenger both sustained serious injuries.

The highway was kept open with alternating traffic while emergency services provided the two injured motorcycle riders with medical treatment and police continued their investigation.

"The injured riders of the motorcycle, who are both expected to survive, were transported to hospital with serious injuries," says the release.

Anyone with information, including dash camera footage related to the incident, is asked to call Castlegar RCMP at 250-365-7721.
