Wendy's hoping to open Castlegar restaurant

The City of Castlegar has received a development application for 1680 Columbia Ave.

The City of Castlegar has received a development application from the owners of 1680 Columbia Ave. for a new 2,178 sq. ft. Wendy's brand restaurant.

The property in question is located across 17th Street from Kalawsky Chevrolet, adjacent to the railroad tracks.

The proposal includes indoor seating, outdoor patio seating and a drive-thru lane to accommodate 11 vehicles, according to the information package for the application.

Access to the restaurant would be via 17th Street.

Letters outlining zoning variances requested by the owners were sent to nearby properties on Aug. 30.

The requested variances include changes to property line setbacks to accommodate retaining walls and the drive-thru and the number, type, size and location of signs.

Castlegar City Council is scheduled to review the application at a Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday, Sept. 23.

Additional information can be found at castlegar.ca/development, or at City Hall.
