A Black Lives Matter solidarity event is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in front of Castlegar City Hall.
According to the event’s Facebook page, the rally is meant to recognize and remember black people who’ve died due to “racism, fear and systemic brutality.”
The rally joins a number of protests that started two weeks ago across the United States after George Floyd, a black man, died unarmed while in Minneapolis police custody.
Across the Interior, dozens of people attended similar rallies over the last week in Rossland, Nelson, and Kelowna.
Those attending the Castlegar rally are asked to wear masks to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
