Castlegar Fire Department douses tractor-trailer fire

Fire was at 10th Ave. and 24th St. in Castlegar, about three blocks from Kinnaird Elementary School.

The Castlegar Fire Department extinguished a tractor-trailer fire at 10th Avenue and 24th Street in Castlegar, about three blocks from Kinnaird Elementary School.

Flames were showing at the rear end of the trailer when fire crews arrived on scene around 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, June 29. CFD used a front-bumper turret on Rescue 1 for the initial attack before switching to hand lines.

The fire is under investigation by RCMP and Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE).
