Icy conditions are preventing collection of recycling and garbage at some Castlegar area businesses.

Waste Management is asking local business and apartment building owners or managers to remove snow and ice from the areas surrounding their collection bins.

Pathways must be cleared in order to ensure reliable collection of recycling, food scraps and garbage, says WM.

“No one wants overflowing containers, especially over the holidays,” said WM Operations Director Matt Paden. “Unfortunately, snow and ice can make it impossible for WM drivers to provide service. To ensure regular collection, we are asking businesses and property managers to keep areas clear and safe.”
