Once again, the Castlegar and District Community Services Society (CDCSS) is hard at work organizing Christmas gifts for those in the community in need of a little holiday cheer.

The non-profit organization is looking for both individual item donations and sponsors for their Sponsor a Family for Christmas program.

The gifts will go out to families and seniors. Cash donations are always welcome as they enable staff to purchase items that they know are needed. Other suggested items include gift cards for food, clothing, basic needs, pharmacies, movies and restaurants.

Other useful items include new socks, mittens, hats, diapers, bottles, baby formula, toys, arts and craft supplies, bath products, makeup, hair accessories, brushes, toiletries, pyjamas, housecoats and slippers.

If you want to participate in the Sponsor a Family for Christmas, CDCSS will facilitate connecting you with someone you can shop for and give you information on individuals in the family and some gift suggestions.

The deadline for sponsoring is Dec. 18, but earlier donations make the process go a lot smoother.

Donations can be made in person at the CDCSS office located at 1007 2nd Street, V1N 1Y4 or by mail to the same address.

For more information call the CDCSS office at 250-365-2104 or email info@cdcss.ca.

CDCSS offers year-round programs that are all free of charge to the community. These services are offered to families, individuals, youth and seniors. CDCSS has over 5000 people reach out for support each year and CDCSS volunteers contributed over 3000 hours of service last year. More information on the programs and services offered can be found at cdcss.ca.
