After spending almost two years meeting online, Castlegar city council is moving back to in-person council meetings beginning March 7.
“It will be nice to see everybody in person and get back to a little bit more normal way of conducting business,” said Mayor Kirk Duff. “This is politics and it’s best done face-to-face.”
While all of the councillors said they will be making an effort to attend in person, the public will still have the option to attend either in person or watch the proceedings online.
The councillors and city staff will be practicing physical distancing and wearing masks at the meeting, except when speaking.
Meetings will be held at their previous location at the Castlegar Community Forum, next to City Hall. Masks will be required, and capacity is limited to 50 people total, including council and staff.
The city will also be holding an in-person public forum regarding a zoning amendment related to a proposed development at the former Brandson Pool site on March 14.
