An annual effort at a local fast food outlet proves to be a good time for Castlegar firefighters as a steady stream of support makes for a productive few hours Saturday.
Captain Ray Hackett said the turnout was gratifying as the emergency volunteers worked at loading a bus with donated toys for local children. He thanked Mountain Transport Institute (for supplying the vehicle.
Just as the photo op was wrapping up a local citizen handed over a $1,000 cheque for the cause – talk about Christmas spirit!
The toys were to be dropped off with the Community Harvest Food Bank for distribution this coming weekend.
