Castlegar’s fire chief is reminding people to slow down and drive with caution after the Castlegar Fire Department was called to two collisions in less than 24 hours on the Brilliant Bridge just outside of Castlegar.

Chief Sam Lattanzio says the latest incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Monday. Traffic had to detour via the Robson access road until the scene could be cleared. RCMP and BC Ambulance also responded to the scene.

Overnight lows are expected to hover just above freezing for most of this week. But bridge surfaces ice easier than road surfaces, so caution is advised when driving on bridges in cold weather.

Snow has already fallen on mountain passes in the area. Drivers can look to drivebc.ca for up-to-date road conditions.
