A vehicle fire in the parking lot of Castle Wood Village was put out by the Castlegar Fire Department Thursday morning before it spread any further or caused any injuries.

Fire chief Sam Lattanzio says the call came in at 8:35 a.m.

The department responded with two engines, a command vehicle and six firefighters. The bumper turret on Rescue 1 was used to dispense foam to knock down the majority of the fire and then the remainder was extinguished with a hand line.

Lattanzio says the cause of fire is under investigation, a mechanical or electrical failure is the suspected cause.
