The Castlegar RCMP Detachment is proud of a pair of its own constables – part of a select group of 355 law-enforcement officers given the distinction of belonging to "Alexa's Team."

Sergeant Laurel Mathew credits Cst. Jason Tait and Cst. Tyler Mills as well-deserving of the tribute."It's a pretty good achievement for a couple of small town guys," she told the Castlegar News on May 4.

The team project was instigated by Laurel and Michael Middelaer, parents of the four-year-old girl who lost her life in 2008, in Delta, due to a drunk driver. The team, is out to rid the roads of impaired drivers and those police officers who are most successful at that are saluted with an invitation.

Across the province there have been 12, 923 impaired drivers busted by the 355 officers who have since been honoured.
