Castlegar sani-dump open, for now

The sani-dump station at the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce has opened for the season. Use of the facility is free, and potable water is available.

However, once construction begins on the new Confluence building — a Chamber of Commerce, Visitor Centre and economic development hub — the facility will close. Once construction is completed on the new building, the sani-dump will no longer be part of the Visitor Centre’s offerings.

The future of the city’s sani-dump has been a topic of conversation at the city council table recently. City staff are currently researching options for a new location and council will have to make a decision once staff recommendations are presented. However, preliminary discussions by council indicate the new sani-dump will likely require users to pay a fee for the service.

There are three other sani-dump stations in the Castlegar area: Husky gas station at 1415 Columbia Avenue, Syringa Provincial Park at 5570 Broadwater Road and Castlegar RV Park at 1725 Highway 3 West.
