Waste collection for Castlegar residents will altered over the holidays.

The city says the adjustment is required to align with holiday operations at the Ootischenia landfill (operated by the regional district) where Castlegar garbage is taken as well as the Waste Management recycling facility in Brilliant.

During the week of Dec. 25, curbside garbage collection will be done the day after your regularly scheduled pick-up. For example, if your pickup is usually on Mondays, it will take place Tuesday, Dec. 27.

The week of Jan. 1, curbside recycling collection will be done the day after your regularly scheduled pick-up. For example, if your pickup is usually on Tuesdays, it will take place Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Normal garbage and recycling collection will resume the week of Jan. 8, 2023. You can find the 2023 collection schedule on the city’s website at castlegar.ca/collectionschedule.

To keep up to date on schedule changes and to learn about what can and cannot be recycled you can sign up for the Recycle Coach app. It is available in the Google Play Store or from the Apple App Store.
