The ball is rolling, or rather the puck is sliding as the local initiative is off and running to get Castlegar named Kraft Hockeyville, 2014.
A lot of work is required between now and the Feb. 9 close of nominations.
A gathering of interested parties took part in a brainstorming session, Jan. 19 at the Castlegar Complex, including Sue Heaton, Dan Rye, Kyra Hoggan - Lone Sheep/The Source, Audrey Polovnikoff - CDRD, Pat Metge - Member of pubic, Rob Squires - Selkirk Saints, Jim Sinclair - Castlegar News, Jim Craig - Castlegar Rebels,Leah Biln - CMHA, Jason Wills - CGHA, Wayne Salekin - CMHA, Nikkole Pearce - CMHA, Tammy Verigin Burk - Chamber of Commerce and Curtis Klashinsky CMHA.

Castlegar is a proud hockey city and we would like to show all of Canada. Castlegar needs your nominations. The winning Community will host an NHL Pre-Season Hockey Game, receive $100,000 towards upgrades to our Arena Complex and of course, the Kraft Hockeyville 2014 Title and bragging rights for all of Canada! In order to be selected, as many people as possible, need to log on to www.krafthockeyville.ca select "submit your story" choose Castlegar then tell your story about why Castlegar should win the title and attach a picture of Castlegar or Hockey to make sure it counts. Please submit today. Please ensure that all fields are filled in and follow all of the steps when you go to the Kraft Hockeyville site. Your story can be a simple sentence such as " We are proud of Castlegar and hockey is our game" to a full story. Please take action on this today as time is of the essence. To further show your spirit and support for Castlegar for Kraft Hockeyville 2014 campaign, we are asking that you let it be known, on how proud we really are. Display banners, paint your storefronts, hang posters! Lets make this City be noticed of whom we are.......... PROUD!
