City closes part of Kinsmen Park playground for safety reasons

The part of the playground has been fenced off

A portion of the playground at Kinsmen Park has been closed due to safety concerns, the City of Castlegar announced Thursday.

The city did not say what was dangerous about the playground, only that it had fenced off an area as a precautionary measure following an annual inspection.

“Public safety, especially when thinking about children, is always our top priority,” said operations manager Samuel Shine in a statement.

“It is unfortunate to close a portion of the play area with the weather warming up but we are already looking at solutions and hope to have a long-term plan in place later this spring.”

The rest of the park, including parts of the playground, remain open to the public.
