City Council changes mind about removal of potbellied pigs

In a special meeting council amended a motion from the last council meeting to allow a Castlegar resident to keep her potbellied pigs.

City Council held a special meeting July 9 in order to reconsider the decision made at the last city council meeting regarding the animal control bylaw relating to potbellied pigs.

Council decided unanimously not to amend the bylaw, but changed their previous decision about requiring the pet owner to remove the pigs from her property.

Council decided to allow Mrs. Lamont to keep her two potbellied pigs with the condition that she allow bylaw enforcement inspection of her property as necessary, with a full review after one year.
