A two-vehicle collision near the West Kootenay Regional Airport on Friday afternoon has not resulted in any serious injuries according to police.

Just before 2 p.m. on Friday, the RCMP received a report of a two-car collision.

"A car pulled out of the intersection there at the casino on Highway 3 and didn't see an oncoming vehicle," said Cpl. Brett Turner of the Castlegar RCMP Detachment. "There was a bit of a sideswipe/t-bone collision."

One vehicle ended up approximately 10 feet down the side of an embankment, while the other vehicle was found off to the side of the road.

"So far it's only minor injuries, but they're having to get the fire department to do an extraction of the gentleman that's down the embankment," Turner explained shortly after 3 p.m. "Everybody is conscious and both parties will be going to the hospital with minor injuries."
